Some of the biggest acts in the world have performed in Brazil in the past year in exchange for a small fortune. CHRIS MARTIN and the boys will be returning in October for the Rock In Rio festival and will be joined on the bill by RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS.
Amy hasn't released a new record for years, so these gigs will give her a chance to prove she deserves a place on the world stage. She is having just two rehearsals for her five gigs, which kick off in Florianopolis tomorrow followed by two in Rio with others in Recife and Sao Paulo. The singer has been spending her free time soaking up the sun in Rio wearing ill-fitting swimwear.
She nearly had a BARBARA WINDSOR Carry On Camping-style bikini malfunction after one near-fatal stretch. Her gigs in South America are not the only concerts that will boost her already bulging bank balance. She bagged £1million for a concert in Moscow before Christmas and has another big-money gig lined up in Dubai next month as part of Gulf Bike Week.
I hope all this cash doesn't put her off bringing out new material. Now she's sorted out her problems and is regularly performing live again, expectancy will increase surrounding a new record. Let's hope it's worth the very long wait.
